Your lid moves. The desktop follows.
Lilt reads the hinge 120 times a second and paints live perspective and blur onto your actual desktop. Nothing is recorded. Nothing is uploaded.

Read the hinge.
The lid-angle sensor is polled at 120 Hz, then smoothed between whole-degree ticks. Tilt slowly, it follows slowly. Close faster, it keeps up.

Bend the picture.
ScreenCaptureKit supplies live frames. Perspective, blur, and shadow track the hinge. External displays stay untouched.

Stay on the Mac.
Frames live in memory only. Nothing is written to disk or sent anywhere. Pause or quit from the menu bar any time.

Will it work on my Mac?
Lilt needs an Apple silicon MacBook with a readable lid-angle sensor. Pick a model to check.
Most MacBooks from 2019 onward include a lid sensor. Lilt targets Apple silicon and macOS Sonoma 14 or later. External monitors are left alone. Intel Macs, Mac Studio, Mac mini, and iMac are not supported.
A few things to know.
Why Screen Recording?
The effect needs a live picture of your windows and wallpaper. Despite the permission’s name, Lilt does not save a recording, capture audio, or upload anything.
Can I still click and type?
The overlay changes what you see, not what you use. Apps stay clickable and keep keyboard focus. Turn the effect off from the menu bar and the real desktop returns immediately.
What about battery and heat?
Reading the sensor is cheap. The capture stream is the heavy part, and Lilt tears it down once the lid is above the clear angle.
Will it blur during a Zoom call?
By default, yes. App-aware rules are next: keep the screen clear while a video-call app is frontmost, even if the lid is half closed.
How is this different from the free apps?
